Why Remote Support?

This site is to help you to help yourself, but sometimes its just good sense to call someone in to look at a problem or an issue you may be having with Reckon Accounts Business (formerly QuickBooks), Retail Point of Sale, or Reckon Accounts Personal (formerly Quicken).

Timing commences when I am connected to your computer and we are ready to start, so time downloading the software and our initial conversation is "off the clock"

How Remote Support Works

As long as you have an internet connection, remote support allows me to log onto your computer, and either guide you through a procedure, or if appropriate, directly operate the computer itself.  In addition to the computer side, I also talk to you via phone or skype.  I can see your screen, and we can both focus on the issue at hand.  It's a far superior method than telephone alone.

 

Is it Secure?

The method I use to log into your computer is controlled by a password protected, encrypted link.  In addition, you control whether I can control the computer, or just view the screen.  Once you close the remote control session, I have no further access to your computer, unless, or course, you invite me back

 

What do I need to do to get organised.

It's easy. 

You will then need to either phone me on 0409 317366 or 03 58317366 , or email me (click here) to make an appointment at a time that suits us both. I'm not 9 to 5, so nighttimes and weekends can be arranged if they suit us both.

 About 5 minutes before the appointment, Download the required software from reckonhelp.showmypc.com .  You can download the software from this site - look for the down arrow on "Show My PC " then choose "Show My PC (Download Run).

A file will download and run, and this screen will appear:

Select the Green "Play" button.  You may have to allow this program through your firewall if messages come up.  It should then generate a 4 digit Share Password That I will ask for to allow me to see your screen.

Payment will need to confirmed before the appointment.  If you pay via PayPal, notification to me is almost immediate.  I can also arrange payment by direct debit although this takes 1 to 2 business days to clear.

 

What if its a simple problem that takes me a minute?

If it's really that easy, I'd probably just tell you what needs to happen and not charge at all.  If I finish before the 30 mins, I am happy to talk to you about your other QuickBooks issues or questions you may have, or I can just look through your file setup and give you some pointers.

 

What if it's really complex?

Sometimes, the issue really requires an onsite visit. I will usually refer you to a Reckon Accredited Consultant in your area.  I will brief the Consultant for you if you wish, or email you a synopsis of my findings so you don't have to explain the whole issue again. If there is no consultant close by, we can discuss costs of me travelling to your location.
